ISFE Oral Medicine Part A

Overview

Part A of the Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship Examination in Oral Medicine is a written assessment that evaluates your knowledge of oral disease, diagnostic medicine, systemic interactions, and patient management. It confirms the depth of understanding required to progress toward consultant-level practice in oral medicine.

The College acts as the Secretariat of the Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship Examinations Boards in Dental Specialties and is responsible for the professional conduct of the examinations on behalf of the Faculties of Dental Surgery of the:

Diploma of Fellowship

Award of the Diploma of Fellowship in a specific specialty indicates that a candidate has attained the knowledge and experience, as well as satisfied the necessary training programme requirements, to proceed to independent practice as a consultant within their specialty.

Successful candidates affiliate to one of the partner Colleges once they have met all requirements: information on affiliation is available from each of the partner Colleges.

To sit Part A of the ISFE in Oral Medicine, you must:

Be currently enrolled in a recognised UK or Irish specialty training programme in Oral Medicine, approved by the General Dental Council (GDC) or the Dental Council of Ireland
Have completed a minimum of two and a half years of full-time equivalent specialty training by the time of the examination
Obtain formal approval from your postgraduate dental dean or training programme director
Submit all required documentation and meet application deadlines set by the Intercollegiate Board
