Governance

The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow is governed by a set of formal documents that outline our structure, responsibilities and processes. These include our byelaws and regulations, which ensure transparency and accountability in how the College operates. You can view each of the pages from the links below.

Byelaws

The byelaws provide the constitutional framework for the College. They set out the roles and responsibilities of the Council, office bearers and faculties, as well as how meetings, elections and appointments are conducted. These rules underpin our status as a Royal College and registered charity.

Regulations

The regulations support the byelaws by providing detailed guidance on how College processes are managed. This includes procedures for membership and fellowship, the organisation of examinations and the governance of faculties. They are reviewed regularly to reflect best practice and operational needs.

Trustees

Under the leadership of the College President, Professor Hany Eteiba, our trustees are the elected office bearers plus two members appointed through a competitive selection process. All trustees give generously of their time and expertise to support the ongoing advancement of our College and have a legal responsibility to ensure that, as a charity, we operate in a responsible and appropriate manner.
