Overview
The MRCS Part B OSCE is a practical, station-based examination that assesses the applied knowledge, clinical skills and professional behaviours expected of a surgeon in training.
After passing Part A, this assessment forms the second and final part of the Intercollegiate MRCS qualification, which is recognised by the four Surgical Royal Colleges of the UK and Ireland.
Candidates are examined in a series of scenarios designed to reflect real clinical practice, with a focus on patient safety, communication, clinical skills, knowledge and clinical judgement.
Passing Part B makes you eligible for election as a Member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.
The Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS) examination is an intercollegiate examination run jointly with the other Colleges of Surgeons in the UK and Ireland.
Award of the diploma of Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons indicates that a candidate has enhanced their knowledge, understanding, experience and clinical competence well beyond primary qualification level.
Further information can be found on this page and on the ICBSE website.
