Overview
The course gives hands-on refresher training for consultants and senior trainees in ear, nose and throat (ENT) emergencies that occur in areas outside their sub-specialty using fresh/frozen cadavers. This course is also suitable for specialty and specialist doctors.
The course will be modular, covering the specific procedures noted below. Participants are expected to cover two of all three modules if time permits.
The ratio of delegate to cadaver will be 2:1.
Module 1: Rhinology
- SPA ligation.
- Anterior ethmoid artery ligation.
- Drainage of peri-orbital abscess.
- Lateral canthotomy.
- Frontal sinus trephining.
Module 2: Head and Neck
- Neck exploration targeting IJV, carotid artery, parapharyngeal/neck abscess drainage.
- Tracheostomy/cricothyrotomy.
Module 3: Otology
- Cortical mastoidectomy.
