Details

The Lachlan McNeill Scholarship in Ophthalmology has been established through the generosity of a private donation to provide funds to enable resident doctors to extend their knowledge, experience or training in ophthalmology.

One scholarship, worth approximately £5,000, will be available per year. Proposals for works to be undertaken may relate to any aspect of ophthalmology. Applicants need not be Fellows or Members of the College, but the successful applicant will be required to submit a report to the Scholarship Committee within two months of the completion of his/her study.

Those interested in applying should submit a CV along with a completed application form giving a detailed description of the proposed work to be undertaken and an approximate budget.

All applications must be prospective; no award will be made retrospectively e.g. if your proposal is taking place in 2026, you must submit your application by the closing date of 1 April 2026. This is to ensure all applications are ready for review, which takes place in May annually. If your proposal is taking place in 2025, the deadline has passed as these applications were reviewed in May 2025.
